Deep Within is the first sculptural work in my WITHIN series — a reflection on the changes that happen inside us long before they become visible to others.
From the outside, we may look almost the same. Yet internally, something can be shifting, breaking open, rebuilding, or transforming. Often, the people around us may only sense that something is different without knowing what has changed.
The face of Deep Within is intentionally subtle. Even the angle of the face changes what we see — much like looking at ourselves through different mirrors. Each angle reveals something slightly different, reminding us that there is never just one way of seeing ourselves.
The jellyfish emerging around the head represents the invisible, constantly moving world within us — our thoughts, emotions, resistance, vulnerability, and the processes of change that cannot always be seen from the outside. Like the jellyfish, these inner movements can appear delicate and fluid, yet they can also carry a quiet strength.
For me, Deep Within is about inner transformation — the parts of ourselves that are changing beneath the surface while the outside world may simply notice that we seem different.
Perhaps someone sees strength.
Someone else sees vulnerability.
Someone may see resistance, while another sees freedom.
There is no single interpretation.
Deep Within is an invitation to look beyond what is immediately visible — and to become curious about what may be happening beneath the surface, within ourselves and within one another.
Because sometimes, the greatest changes are the ones no one else can see.
